Jagga Jasoos took a long time to do. It must have been exhausting …
It’s exhausting when you try to finish a movie in three months. And this took three and a half years. Yes, it was mentally exhausting because of the patience it requires. He had worked with Anurag Basu before in Barfi. So I was very prepared for his style of work. He does a lot of work for you. As an actor, he creates his performance with his camera, his music and his treatment. I had a good creative collaboration with him. So I was very excited to work again. He is a filmmaker who works very hard, is very passionate, is very inspiring when you are on set with him. He challenges you as an actor. He does not like rehearsals. So everything is improvised. The situation is like something so out of the ordinary that you always surprise yourself as an actor. Yes, he proved our patience. We all feel frustrated, we lose hope, we try to put the film aside, and at some point we lose interest. But what kept us going was Basu’s persistence.
Why did you choose to collaborate with Anurag Basu as a producer instead of producing it under your own RK banner?
I make a movie under the RK banner when I get to direct one. Anurag Basu is a great name. Your contribution to this film is more than mine. And it was only fair that I should produce fifty and fifty. I did not want to take all the credit for producing it. That’s why we started with a Picture Shuru Productions for Jagga Jasoos. We want to make other films related to this character and this format but that depends on if the movie goes well.
Were you ever afraid that you were making a musical?
There was not really much emotion in place. It’s a real musical movie; And it’s an adventure movie and detective too. It is a kind of encompasses the Disney prototype. So this movie is like adapting a cartoon movie with live actors and will attract children and a universal audience as well. Yes, the risk factor was high no one has done this before. But I think it was also exciting to break the ground. It was very exciting for me as a producer and as an actor to be part of a movie like this.
Was it difficult to work with director Anurag Basu, since he does not work with a forced script?
Yes, he is that type of filmmaker and therefore the actors can feel insecure. They need to know what is happening, what I am doing, what is my graphic – but Anurag does not work like this. I knew of their process so I was prepared for it, but it was difficult for Katrina Kaif. She was new to all this.
You do not like to follow a formula, do you?
Whenever I have tried to go by formula, as in Besharam, for example, I have always fallen flat on my face. It’s not something that comes naturally to me. I think the more risky parts, the parts that are not heroic … are the roles with which I connect. I like to play the low hero. I do not like to play the hero bigger than life. And I go by my instinct, I go by intestine. If I like a story, if I like the director’s vision, I sign the movie. All 300MB Dual Audio Bollywood Hollywood Free Upcoming Moviesat UpcomingMovies4U.Com
